What about their new album? I thought they were going to record it in February. If they come to South American in April, then they would have to finish it faster or something or just postpone either the South American tour or their studio plans.

Maybe, maybe not. SLR&R was essentially recorded in 2-4 weeks. The recording, if started in January or February, could EASILY be completed by mid-April or sooner.

Recording doesn't have to take months and months. The band doesn't have to be physically present for the entire duration from recording through mixing/mastering and release.

The new album will arrive on a Tuesday.

You never know how much an album can take, it could take more than weeks, months, whatever. Jonny said they're supposed to be back in the studio on the February 1st (on the dot) as far as I know, but if they leave for South America in April, then that means they would have to finish it around March or the earliest of April.

What I'm saying it that you may be getting worried about nothing. Yes, recording COULD take months or years, but we're not talking about Chinese Democracy.

Even if they do take a break from recording to do some shows, so what? The new album will be ready when it's ready.

It'll come out on a Tuesday.

Yeah, OK. Now I'm understanding what you're saying.

honestly, I wouldn't bet on the band entering the studio on feb. 1st. Interviews are just interviews and almost nothing is as unreliable as the music business.

I heard they're all leaving tomorrow for a monastery in the Andes and will be there for 5 years. They will not be speaking or playing any music the whole time, but will be meditating while laying on a bed of nails and eating snails. I swear I heard Jonny say that in an interview yesterday ... or maybe it was Atom.

Will the donning of hairshirts and/or a metal cilice also be mandatory? ;)

So you're saying there will be sitar on the new record?

Oh wait, the Andes. That reminds me to put "Alive" on my Netflix list.

Well, many others have trod that path before! Reminds me of one of my favourite Captain Sensible stories about the recording of the Black Album, when the band were keen to spread their musical wings and try new stuff. He bought a sitar, figuring he was a guitarist, a sitar has strings, "how difficult can it be?"... so he tried it on one song.... "twang twang twaaanng... sounded fuckin' 'orrible".... tried it on another track.... "twaaaang twang twaaaang... fuckin' worse".... in the end he gave it to the Damned's notorious roadies who "smashed the fucking thing to pieces in the back of the van".... you gotta love 'em!
