Fellow Fans,

I personally love how Social Distortion has progressed over the years. I love the old songs and the new. My wishes are that Social D can implement the traditional sound without getting too involved with what is going around (which I love they are sticking to older style equip.). Use of true instruments (A LOT) sax, harmonica, even violin would keep it true while not forgetting how far we have come and how it has always been done to please the fans.

I met Danny and Charlie outside of the show in Pomona, CA at the Glass House. Thankfully we still have Danny, one of the best P3 players I have ever heard and it's sad of Charlie’s departure. I met Charlie at the same time. They were leaving an old Mexican Cafe' before a show. My brother and I talked with them for a few minutes about prior shows and how much we appreciate the sound. We had just seen Danny do a great performance with the Super Suckers at the Morongo Casino. Although I desperately wanted to offer them a brew or smoke, I didn't want to invade their privacy. Still kick myself for not asking for a picture.

Overall Social Distortion is MY FAVORIT BAND. I have been opened up to so much music since I first heard their music. I don't care how long it has been, they still. "send shivers down my spine" with enjoyment. I just really hope they stick with a Social D sound.

It has been a long time, since last posting. It's about time I start again.

I love my fellow Social D fans and everyone. I just want what is right for everybody. Hopefully everyone will see how great this band is and induct them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Punkabilly - Nice post. I agree with you about Danny and Charlie. My two favorite guys in Social Distortion. I also agree with the addition of those instruments becasue they would really compliment their sound I would esp. like to see more of the harmonica in the near future like on SBH&H record. They definietly need to inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are now officially eligible and their name has already been casted!

I agree with you both.

What I like about early rock and roll was the experimentation with different sounds. Some songs had an almost orchestral quality and nobody thought less of the music because of it. What the general public now considers rock music has become stereotyped. One of the reasons that I got disallusioned with punk was the stereotyping of it. One the one hand it was "Punk is a counter-culture movement that encourages individuality and independent thinking." On the other hand it was "Your 'hawk has to look this way in order to be cool. This is the currently popular counter-culture way of decorating your leather jacket and these are the in-style counter-culture hair colors. Your jeans must also be strategically ripped in these places." In the end, the most punk person at the club was the guy in the IZOD shirt and khakis that didn't give a fu%k what anyone thought of him. The entire movement had come full circle and we were back at square one (Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.00). Most people are content to follow, even in a counter-culture movement. There is safety and acceptance in blending in. Going your own way often means taking chances that your music will not be commercially accepted, either by the mainstream or your desired counter-culture group (which has its own version of mainstream). It's a risk... but it's a risk that great bands are willing to take. Because SxDx goes their own way, the band's mainstream popularity has been slow. However, it has also been steady. In the end, I have no doubt that SxDx will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
If you don't have roots, you don't have shit.
