a frank exchange of views

Normaly I wouldn't do this in a public forum with a private message but what the hell, I'm not feeling overly-charitable.... thanks to the sender of the delightful private message I received (and the sender knows who he/she is!)

ur a ASSHOLE the DEAD BOYS fucking were great and so were the lords of the new church.... learn your history small fry...besides having two great studio lp's the DEAD BOYS put on a show second to none...so eat shit cock chops!!!!!
Pithy and to the point I grant you, but what's your problem with simply posting in the relevant thread that you didn't agree with me about the Dead Boys huh?... I don't like them, with the exception of Sonic Reducer and Son Of Sam, and I wasn't overly fond of The Lords I have to say. They were okay. But what does having a difference of musical opinion with you about that have to do with me "learning my history"?.... I know my history full well, thank you, from being an avid devourer of the CBGB/NYC secne through to the goth punk rock world of the early/mid 80s in which the Lords moved... And Stiv was a charming bloke, at least he was when I spent several hours round at his London flat one afternoon back in April of '83 shooting the breeze over several cups of tea about music and politics and all sorts, with a mate of mine who ran the Lords info Service for a while. Whole band signed my old Damned Neat Neat Neat cover for me as well. So forgive me for the name dropping, but I doubt Stiv would have thrown his teddy out of the pram just because someone held a different opinion to him, so we can exchange views as vigorously as you like out in the open but lay off with the petty name-calling and hair-pullling okay? :P
... peace....

Totally agree psychocandy65 - there's no excuse for rudeness. Your posts have always been informative and entertaining (besides exhibiting a warped sense of humor which I find admirable). Personally, I like the Dead Boys, but don't care if others feel differently. The world's a big place and not everyone is going to agree. Unfortunately, we can't control how other people behave and some behave badly. Just shrug it off brother and keep on doin' what you do.

Oh, I quite agree... If people despise my fave bands and say so in no uncertain terms, that doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact ... bring it on... I'm all for a full and frank discussion, a passionate argument about music (or movies, or anything for that matter) is what keeps the ol' blood flowing. The only reason I posted that unfortunately snide PM is that I'm not prepared to be lectured to about "knowing my history" and so on, in such an unnecessary manner, behind the scenes. It should be out in the open, on a public forum, for everybody to ship in and have their say.
I have to say, though, I am sorely tempted to change my user name to "Cock Chops", it has such a delightfully memorable ring to it don't you think, but I somehow doubt I'd get away with the online avatar I have in mind without getting banned from the board....

Yeah, most of us can defend our front - it's the back that's vulnerable. Snide PMs are the written equivalent of a backstabbing. There's no honor in such behavior.

You know, I almost commented on that in my initial post. I read "cock chops" and just burst out laughing.

Hey Cock Chops! I'm sitting at the upstairs bar in the 9:30 Club waiting for the Dropkick Murphys show to get underway. The house music is a lot of classics and they've already played several songs by the Dead Boys. Just had to let you know, as they're your favorite band and all.

Aw, shucks.... if only I'd known! I could have spent hundreds of pounds to fly over, find a place to stay, see the Dropkick Murphys (another band I don't like :D ), and bopped around the dancefloor to Sonic Reducer. Mind you, I'd probably have been way too busy to be spending any time on the dancefloor... they don't call me "Cock Chops" for nothing you know!!!

Well, I was born in New England, my family's Irish American and I love the Boston Red Sox. Ergo... by default I have to love the Dropkick Murphys. If not, my family would issue a fatwa against me! I get enough crap from them because I actually prefer The Tossers over the Dropkicks. :D

The show was sold out and they packed us in like sheep. With a capacity crowd, the club became a sweaty sea of humanity - but there were lots of girls, so you certainly could have worked your prodigious talents. ;)

LOL, cock chops? That's a first, never heard that one before.
I love it when keyboard badasses get all uptight because someone said something about "their" band...lol

Hey, you better not be taking my name in vain, mister.... them's fightin' words!
Yep, just diss somebody's favourite band in a sentence or two, and you too could be rejoicing in a delightful new nickname!

Kind regards,
Cock Chops
